Sometimes, what really gets us discouraged is waking up day after day to the same struggle. The same challenges at work. The same troubles in our relationships. The same pains in our bodies. After weeks, months, or even years of being confronted with the same problem, we start to wonder whether things will ever get better. We start to wonder whether we’ll ever see change.

My friend, when we look at our circumstances and see every reason to be discouraged, God wants us to close our eyes. Yes, close our eyes to what’s visible and open our hearts to believe what’s eternal—His Word.
2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT says, “We don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” This means that instead of fixing our eyes on our problems, our challenges, or our lack, God wants us to open our hearts to believe His Word. Believe His promises of breakthrough, restoration, and victory. My friend, our outward circumstances are temporary. But God’s Word is eternal and His promises are unshakable. If you haven’t seen them come to pass, it just means your story isn’t over yet!
A verse that always encourages me when I’m discouraged is Psalm 27:13, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Beloved, will you close your eyes and open your heart to believe that you will see God’s goodness in your life—because that’s what His Word says? As you do this, I’m praying and believing with you that your breakthrough is on the way!
